Charlotte Amalie on St Thomas. We arrived at the other terminal – not the one we came to in 2009. The town was $4 per person each by a sort of bus/taxi – open-sided taxis taking about 24 people which dropped off in the centre. Charlotte Amalie was nothing special, but the scenery was pleasant enough and you could see 3 cruise ships – RCI’s Adventure of the Seas, Celebrity Silhouette and a Carnival's Valour – berthed at the cruise pier we came to in 2009. A drink in a not particularly special seafront café was at least as expensive as on the ship and the service charge was 18%! Charlotte Amalie was stuffed full of jewellery shops and some of the merchandise was very pricey. At the Pandora shop, items were about the same price as at home.
Either that evening or the day after, the ship created a 'champagne fountain' with 725 glasses!
